Davion Lewis, a distinguished graduate of the JG Consulting Leadership Academy Cohort VIII, has been unanimously selected as the next superintendent of Essexville-Hampton Public Schools in Michigan. His official start date is July 1, pending final contract negotiations.

Lewis’s selection as superintendent is a testament to the impact and caliber of the Leadership Academy. His journey reflects the academy’s mission to identify and prepare top-tier talent for executive roles in public education.

Exceptional Choice to Lead the District

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Mr. Lewis,” said Paul Sansburn, president of the Essexville-Hampton Board of Education. “His extensive experience and proven leadership in various educational roles make him an exceptional choice to lead our district into its next chapter.”

Lewis currently serves as the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services in South Bend, Indiana. He was previously the CEO of the South Bend Empowerment Zone, a role he began in 2022. His career spans over 15 years, including leadership roles in both traditional public schools and charter networks such as New Orleans Public Schools and The RISE Schools in Atlanta.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the Essexville-Hampton Public Schools Board of Education for allowing me to lead more than 1,520 amazing and gifted students, as well as nearly 200 dedicated and talented leaders, teachers, and staff,” Lewis said. “It is an absolute honor for me to serve as superintendent, and I am so excited to join such a welcoming, supportive, and vibrant community.”

Lewis’s appointment not only marks a new chapter for Essexville-Hampton, but also highlights the growing influence of the JG Consulting Leadership Academy in shaping the next generation of transformative educational leaders.
